Resumo:
This production discuss the technical, economic and operational performance of the medium
voltage transformers manufactured and/or repaired in Brazil, based on results of load and no-load
losses, magnetization current, temperature rising and lightning impulse withstanding, obtained from the
tests accomplished by the High Voltage Laboratory of the Federal University of Itajubá.
Transformers partial and/or total repairing are usual practice of the power utilities in Brazil, like
the AES-SUL Distribuidora Gaúcha de Energia Elétrica S.A. case.
With the purchased data, the analysis was made in concise and discerning way, furthermore was
defined national transformers efficiency curves based on European Standard PROPHET informations.
Seeing the Brazilian equipments lack of quality, was proposed the acquiring of new medium
voltage transformers with high efficiency instead of the acquisition of conventional new units and/or
repairing old transformers. The investment analysis of this proposal was made, resulting in concretes
arguments for the decision.
