Resumo:
The ISO 9001 standard is recognized as an important alternative for organizations to
implement their quality management system and generate competitive advantage.
organizational routines. Currently in its 5th edition, published in September 2015, the ISO
9001:2015 standard represents a milestone in the history of quality management, introducing
new approaches that have resulted in important changes and opportunities. Although three
years have passed since the transition process has passed, since the adaptation period for this
version ended on September 15, 2018, the ISO 9001:2015 standard continues to be a
prominent topic for organizations and, as a result of dealing with an update considered recent,
there is still a lack of knowledge about its main benefits and difficulties, being a topic that has
not been intensively addressed in the Brazilian literature. Given this context, the present work
proposed to empirically investigate the impact of the ISO 9001:2015 standard in Brazil,
identifying its main motivations, benefits and difficulties. For that, the survey method was
used, using a structured questionnaire self-administered through the internet as a data
collection instrument and, for data analysis, quantitative methods, such as descriptive
analysis, cluster analysis and sentiment analysis. The survey was carried out over three
months and obtained 103 responses. The results enabled a series of conclusions on the
subject, highlighting, in particular, the potential value of the ISO 9001:2015 standard for
organizations, recognizing that the standard is even more aligned with reality and modern
management practices and the relevance of adding of the new requirements, as well as its
High Level Structure (HLS). The main motivations reported by organizations for the
implementation/maintenance of the ISO 9001 standard were presented, which end up being
the same over time; and the benefits and difficulties of the ISO 9001:2015 standard, showing
that some of the new requirements, especially risk-based thinking, were seen as benefits and
also as difficulties. Finally, the groups of motivations, benefits and difficulties for the
implementation/maintenance of the ISO 9001:2015 standard were related to the profile of the
respondent companies, making it possible to observe the existence of associations between
some variables.
