Resumo:
The conduction properties of polyaniline (PANI) have attracted a considerable attention of the re searchers due to its peculiar electrochemical behavior and good chemical and ambient stability. Ex tensive works about the development of polymer blends containing PANI have pointed to the obten tion of materials with good physical and chemical characteristics, indicating promising possibilities
for the PANI uses This work describes some physical and chemical properties (electric transport) of
the blend polyaniline/poly(vinyl alcohol) (PANI/PVA). Doped polyaniline in the form of emeraldine
salt was synthesized after aniline chemical oxidation with ammonium persulfate as oxidant agent.
Scanning electron microscopy (SEM) analysis of the PANI/PVA was used to investigate the relation ships between the conductivity and the microstructure of the conducting blend. The gold and graph ite contacts as well as the temperature effect at interval of 32-320 K were investigated in the study of
the ac and dc electrical properties of the PANI/PVA blend. These measurements have indicated that
the conduction processes in the PANI blends are thermally activated. Finally, some electric charac teristics of the PANI/PVA blends have been extracted like as dielectric relaxation time, capacitance,
impedance and ac and dc activation energy
