Resumo:
The main objective of this MSc. dissertation is the development and evaluation of
computational algorithms to locate earth-ground faults in three terminal transmission lines
(Teed Circuits).
The development is made based on the travelling wave theory and on the application
of the wavelet transform.
Two fault location methods are proposed: the former uses data of two terminals, and
the latter, of only one terminal.
The implemented methods are evaluated through simulations run in ATP
(Alternative Transients Program) and in Matlab’s Simulink.
Based on the simulated data, considering several changes of the system
characteristics, of faults and of simulation conditions, errors are obtained and compared
with existing method.
Conclusions are presented based on the accuracy of the applications and suggestions
are made aiming at improvements on the developed algorithms.
