Resumo:
The main purpose of this work is to present the results of the
distance protection performance when applied on series compensated
transmission lines using real time digital simulation. The work initially presents the
fixed series compensation on transmission lines, the numerical distance protection
and a pre-analysis of the compensation effects. It also presents the real time
digital simulator tool, the methodology applied to evaluate the performance and an
application to validate. As practical examples to validate the work, it presents the
real time digital simulations to evaluate performance of the distance protection
applied on two 500 kV transmission lines, where fixed series compensation were
installed, with the results analysis. This work proves the valuable utilization of the
real time digital simulation to evaluate the performance of distance protection,
guaranteeing the better use of the protective relays functionality.
