Resumo:
damental importance for the people, industries and for the national economy of a country at all,
and moreover for the world with the crescent globalization. It is well known, also, that the loss of this
input can result in great prejudices.
Nowadays, the processes and switching of the systems responsible to generate, transmit and
distribute the electrical energy, makes use of automation to accomplish some of this tasks, in order to
facilitate the work of operators in these areas. This process, sometimes, are independent of the way as
the energy is obtained as steam turbines, gas, wind, hydraulics and others. In some cases, some
facilities have been designing station completely unmanned, i.e., without operators inside it, what means
that there is a high level of automation in these projects.
An automated system must have the following characteristics:
· Evaluate an occurrence and submit the adopted proceedings normally adopted by an operator.
· Apply protection systems to isolate the affected area In case of fault contingencies, providing the
integrity of the remainder equipment.
· Identify the involved components and communicate the affected ones.
· Make reports to register the faults aiming at compose an historical to help avoid these problems in
future projects.
· Verify the logical to avoid undesirable switching and possible material damages or loss of human
life.
This work aims at the application of automation in substations for monitoring the supervision
and implementation of software electrical protections, allowing the switching visualization, normally
practiced in electrical energy substations, as so as the parameterization of these equipment for teaching
practice in electrical engineering and automation courses at UNIFEI – Federal University at Itajubá.
This is done using a prototype installed in the Automation Systems Laboratory, of the Industrial
Automation and Computing Group, with a Programmable Logic Controller (PCL) GE-FANUC 90-70 and
the Citect supervision system. Supervision, application, switching and protections screens were done.
The results are here explained.
