Resumo:
This study intends to investigate the use of financing tools and techniques that are used by the
industries “Electronic Valley”, which comprises the city of Santa Rita do Sapucaí. It also
intends to compare and verify the differences when they are used by micro and small
companies.
For that, twenty-one companies were interviewed: 10 are small and 11 micro companies.
They all belong to the electro-electronic and industrial sector.
The main themes that were approached are: sources of resources, techmiques that are used for
financial planning and control.
Although most of the companies have a financial sector, it is possible to notice the there is a
great distance between the theory and the everyday practice.
Financial planning, in its broader context, is something that the companies have little
knowledge of. Only fragments are observed. When the answers were evaluated deeply, even
the issues, which most of the companies claimed to know, were treated superficially and
fragmentarily.
This study also intends to show the need of training and policies that encourage the micro and
small businessman. It also provides guidelines for teaching and research institutions regarding
a curriculum that would match the real needs of the entrepreneurs of this region.
