Resumo:
The present study discusses the topic of digital accessibility on the web aimed at people with disabilities (PCD), and aimed to investigate the possibilities of accessibility of the website www.uai-online.com with a view to the criteria of recommendations for digital accessibility on the web presented by the WCAG booklet. The digital platform is a space created in order to present and share information, activities and materials about the context of inclusion in the research produced by the group "Technologies, Education and Diversity", composed of students from the postgraduate programs in Development, Technologies and Society (DTecS) and Science Education at the Federal University of Itajubá (UNIFEI). According to the last Census conducted by IBGE in 2010, the Brazilian population had about 24% of people who declared that they declared themselves to have some kind of disability and recent studies by BIGDATACORP showed that in 2019 less than 1% of government websites and not -governmental organizations had accessibility criteria on the web. With this, the relevance of the present study is verified, as it will contribute to increase academic productions that deal with issues related to digital accessibility on the web for the PCD. To achieve the objectives set and answer the questions of this work, a qualitative research methodology that collaborated with the investigations on the theme of the study was used. The data collection procedures used included: a questionnaire with students from the Information Technology (IT) area in order to understand the process of training the IT professional; a automated structural assessment seeking to analyze the technical evolution that occurred on the website; and, a complementary evaluation of the use of the digital platform, carried out by means of a video call and a questionnaire answered by the PCDs, in order to expose a panorama closer to the real regarding the use of the website. The results point out that the possible lack of content on the topic of research in higher education institutions may impact the creation of accessible software, the application of recommendations for digital accessibility criteria in the WCAG booklet made the site present technical improvements and the evaluation of PCDs can show that accessible online platforms help to minimize the barrier of access to information available on the internet.
