Resumo:
Regardless of nature, area of activity or target audience, organizations are increasingly being
requested to present improvements in their performance, results and product / service quality. To
help public entities adopt management excellence practices, the Model of Excellence in Public
Management (MEGP) has been created, aiming for results and for the improvement of public
services quality. Considering this, through a case study, the purpose of this thesis is to evaluate
and analyze a Federal Institution of Higher Education's (IFES) warehouse management
performance using an adapted evaluation instrument based on the MEGP. Before carrying out
the data collection, the MEGP's own assessment instrument underwent an adaptation process, so
that it was aligned with the characteristics of public warehouses and, at the same time, objective,
easier to use and to interpret. The adapted instrument utilization has showed that, in addition to
verifying the alignment of the unit's management practices with the MEGP, it is possible to have
a comprehensive understanding of the evaluated sector, discovering aspects not addressed in
internal audits and that directly influence the warehouse’s performance. With regard to
warehouse’s evaluation, according to the research carried out with the adapted instrument, out of
a total of 100 possible points, the warehouse reached 76.5 points. This demonstrates that the
warehouse has a fine level of management practices, presenting work standards that are aligned
with the fundamentals of excellence. In addition, it is observed that it is within the scope of the
unit to implement the improvement opportunities identified with the evaluation process.
